VOLLEYBALL, MEN'S & WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Kimbrell Arena is located on the campus of McMurry University in the J.W. Hunt Physical Education Center. The playing surface and seating was open in 1973, as both our basketball teams and volleyball team call Kimbrell Arena home. The arena seats 2,250 spectators and is named after legendary McMurry coach Hershel Kimbrell.
Kimbrell Arena was dedicated on Dec. 9, 1995.
Prior to the 2008-09 season, McMurry received a gift to overhaul the east and west seating at the arena. The facility's wooden bleachers were retired and retractable bleachers were installed by Kirk Worthington and the Irwin seating company.
The most recent addition to Kimbrell Arena are two cameras equipped with Keemotion Technology. These cameras use artificial intelligence to follow the action, record footage for coaches and stream live broadcasts at the push of a button. Beginning with the 2019-20 season, Keemotion became a valuable tool for the McMurry volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball programs. Read more about Keemotion by clicking here.

RON HOLMES COURT
On January 21, 2012 the basketball floor at McMurry University was officially dedicated in honor of former coach and Athletics Director Ron Holmes. Holmes ranks second on the War Hawks' all-time victories list. Holmes also played at McMurry and trails only his coaching mentor, Hershel Kimbrell, on that "wins" list.
Holmes led the men's basketball team to the NCAA Division III Elite 8 in 2000, which at the time was the furthest an American Southwest Conference team had advanced in the national tournament. He posted nine 20-win seasons, won five ASC titles and at least a share in seven ASC West Division titles.
The playing surface honors the name of the man who compiled 347 wins in 20 seasons, and led McMurry to the NCAA Sweet 16 for two-straight seasons. This run includes the 1999-2000 season where McMurry was the first school in the ASC to reach the NCAA Division III Elite 8.
